One upon a time I was a hardcore Spander shipper. Shocking, I know. :P But now in my ripe old age I'm getting nostalgic for the fics I used to devour as a wee youngling fangirl, and I decided to start collecting some of my favorites into a proper, organized rec list. Others posts will be for other fandoms, but Spander was such a huge OTP for me that it gets its own post. This post will be updated as I comb through my bookmarks and reread fics, but please feel free to comment with recs or let me know if any of the links get broken.

What sticks in my memory (spoilers!): Kat walking into the Magic Box and Willow!babbling at everyone before Spike walks in and kisses her. The explanation for Spike's eyebrow scar. Xander's love of art.

Pairing: Spike/Xander, Oz/OMC.
Bryn's Summary: Another big fic thatflutterwolf and I reread every couple years. After Oxnard, Xander is gifted powers that allow him to see people's souls/auras. He also still has the spirits of the Hyena and the Soldier in his head. He bonds with Spike, and Oz bonds with OMC, and the four form a pack. Some Willow!bashing.
What sticks in my memory (spoilers!): Xander leaving out bread and salt for Jack. Toth's stick separating Hyena!Xander from Human!Xander. The moment Xander looks at Dawn for the first time with his powers turned on. Xander looking at Buffy's soul.

Fic: It's Just a Jump to the Left by Kimberly A
Pairing: Spike/Xander.
Bryn's Summary (spoilers!): Xander gets stuck in a time loop - in every loop, Spike and Xander are killed by demons as they leave the cemetery. Between every loop is a scene where Xander is helpless inside his own body as he watches himself and Spike have sex. Dubcon, as Xander is locked inside his body and unable to consent to the sex loops. Why is he looping, why the heck are they having sex, and how is he going to break the loop and stop dying every time? The sequel has some mild Dom/sub action if that's your jam. Xander likes it when Spike bosses him around. Boys have trouble talking about their feelings.
What sticks in my memory (spoilers!): Ugh, I love this fic so much. Time loops are so much fun, and this one handles it so well. The first time Xander loops through the sex loop, he goes into a heterosexual freakout, but as the loops go on, he gets more comfortable with the sex. As he sees Spike die time after time, the sex loops serve as a welcome comfort that they're both still alive. I love how Xander picks up more and more details as he loops and grows to know Spike better. "Convergence was imminent." - that line still runs through my head whenever an event I've been anticipating is approaching, both reading fic and in RL. The sequel has a hothothot scene at a sex club where Xander is willingly cut and bleeds for Spike. Unfortunately a little while later assumptions are made and feelings get hurt, and it takes Xander getting hurt on a patrol and Spike nursing him back to health for them to work on repairing the damage.

Fic: Repossession by Lazuli
Pairing: Spike/Xander.
Bryn's Summary: Long fic, huge hurt/comfort. Xander moved out of Sunnydale years ago and is now quite successful at a construction company, when he hears a noise in an alley on the way home. He finds Spike, tortured, raped, and horribly emaciated, with no memory and unable to speak. Xander slowly nurses him back to health. Meanwhile, there's something odd about Xander's boss, and anyone who goes looking for more information ended up forgetting what they were doing. Lots of original characters forming Xander's found family. There is a LOT (A LOT!!!) of hurt/comfort in this fic - as Spike gets better, Xander gets worse, and as Xander gets better, Spike gets worse again - the pair can't seem to catch a break until the end. Graphic torture descriptions. Riley!bashing (to put it mildly). Lots of crying throughout the ride, but there is a happy ending.
What sticks in my memory (spoilers!): Spike's mind split between Demon!Spike and Poet!William. Splinters. Spike stealing Xander's earring because it was inside Xander. "I want to be in you. Why now? Look at you. Look at you and dare ask me again." - I had that picture from the gallery printed out and taped to my bedroom ceiling for years.
